Mission: The East Chicago Central High School Counseling Program is to work with educators, parents/guardians, and community partners to provide a comprehensive counseling program that supports students’ academic, personal/social, and career growth, preparing them to be self-directed, lifelong learners ready for college, career, and military service.

Vision: The East Chicago Central High School Counseling Program is to ensure equal access to a comprehensive counseling program that is an integral part of each student’s educational experience. Through collaboration with educators, parents, and community partners, the program addresses the needs and goals of every student, supporting high school completion and preparing them for college, career, and military readiness.

Individual Planning

  • To meet with students on an individual basis to create and monitor a four year academic plan for high school
  • To meet with students individually to explore post-secondary options focusing on college/career readiness
  • To meet with students individually focusing on personal and social/emotional needs

Responsive Services

To work with students — both individually and in small groups — in response to a variety of academic, emotional and personal/social needs, thus providing opportunities for students to develop coping skills and compensatory strategies.
